Tangaroa Blue Foundation works to prevent and remove marine debris from Australia's coastlines, running clean-up events around the country while coordinating the Australian Marine Debris Initiative, a nationwide network of volunteers, communities, and organisations that monitor litter and feed real data into the AMDI Database.
That evidence base is what sets them apart. Rather than treating clean-ups as an endless task, Tangaroa Blue uses the data to trace debris back to its source, working with industry, government, and local communities to actually stop plastic and litter from reaching the ocean in the first place
Support the work directly
Tangaroa Blue runs beach clean-ups all across Australia, and you don't need any experience to take part. Whether it's your first time or your fiftieth, joining is as simple as checking their events calendar for something happening near you.
Beyond individual clean-ups, they also run corporate volunteering days, school workshops, and support for anyone wanting to organise their own clean-up. If you have professional skills to offer, from research to logistics, they're always looking for ways to put that to good use too.
Every donation to Tangaroa Blue goes toward funding clean-ups, maintaining the AMDI Database, and stopping plastic pollution before it reaches the ocean.
