Charter · Abrolhos Islands, Western Australia
Remote waves. Untouched reefs. Life at sea.
The charter
A chain of coral islands off the Western Australian coast, with turquoise lagoons, untouched reefs and uncrowded surf breaks, and almost nobody else out there. The Houtman Abrolhos are one of the country's most remarkable marine environments, and the best way to see them is from the water.
Your crew gets Starsand to yourselves: a 65-foot ketch-rigged sailing yacht built in timber and brass, with her captain and crew and a Salt Atlas guide. We drive north from Perth through Lancelin and Geraldton, step aboard, and spend five days exploring the islands.
This is more than a surf trip. Depending on the conditions you might surf a reef break in the morning, snorkel or dive in the afternoon, fish or freedive between islands, or simply drop anchor in a quiet bay. There's no rigid schedule: the plan follows the swell, the wind and the sea.

FAQ
How do we book?
The charter is booked as one package for the whole boat, not as individual places. The price is A$42,400 for up to 8 guests, which works out at about A$5,300 each with a full boat.
Is this just a surf trip?
No. Surfing is part of it, but so are snorkelling, diving, fishing, freediving and exploring the islands from the water. It suits a crew who want all of that.
Will there be waves?
We can't promise them. The Abrolhos have reef breaks that work in the right swell, and we'll go looking for them, but the route and the plan follow the conditions, and the captain has the final say.
What do we need to bring?
Surf, dive and recreational equipment isn't included, so bring your own boards and gear. We'll send a full kit list once your dates are confirmed.
Are flights included?
No. Fly into Perth: transfers from and to Perth Airport are included, and we can quote flights separately.
Do we need travel insurance?
Yes. Guests arrange their own travel insurance, and it should cover the activities you plan to do.
